Southampton - Temporary Road Closure Due To Trial Hole Works

THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (WINCHESTER ROAD) (ROAD CLOSURE) (083/67) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to make the above Order.

1. The effect of the Order will be to close Winchester Road from its junction with Hill Lane to its junction with Bassett Avenue.

2. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. These works are for trial holes.

3. The alternative route will be Hill Lane, Burgess Road, Bassett Avenue, The Avenue, Inner Avenue, Dorset Street, Charlotte Place Roundabout, Cumberland Place, Commercial Road, Shirley Road, Shirley High Street, Romsey Road and Winchester Road.

4. The Order will come into force on 6th July 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be complete by 8th July 2026.
