Tendring - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Openreach Pole Testing and Fire Hydrant Replacement Works

What is happening?

(Windmill Road & Straight Road, Bradfield)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Windmill Road, Bradfield in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 285m north west of its junction with Mill Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a north westerly direction.
  2. To temporarily close that length of Straight Road, Bradfield in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Windmill Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 15th July 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC0080GEAA3265020SB & BC0080GEAA3265020SB1 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

Alternative routes are available via:

  1. Windmill Road, Mill Lane, The Street, B1352, Heath Road and vice versa.
  2. Straight Road, Steam Mill Road, Heath Road, The Street, Mill Lane, Windmill Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 26th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Richmond Crescent, Dovercourt)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Richmond Crescent, Dovercourt in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Gordon Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th July 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT00110324831 – Affinity Water Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while fire hydrant replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water Limited.

An alternative route is available via Gordon Road, Gordon Way, Richmond Crescent and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 12th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Wix Road & The Avenue, Great Oakley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Wix Road, Great Oakley in the District of Tendring, from its junction with The Avenue for a distance of approximately 80m in a south easterly direction.
  2. To temporarily close that length of The Avenue, Great Oakley in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Wix Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 5th July 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGTH750NPTSB & BC008WGTH750N01PTSB – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.

An alternative route is available via Wix Road, B1414, B1352, A120, Harwich Road, Oakley Road, Wix Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 12th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
