(TEMPORARY CLOSING) ORDER 2026
The Scottish Borders Council (B709 Traquair, Innerleithen) (Temporary Closing) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 26 June 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30. The Order is required for BT Openreach works.
When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along the B709 south of Traquair Village, Innerleithen.
The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the B709, A708, A707, A72 and B709 to the point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Applications for planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent listed below together with the plans and other documents submitted with them may be examined at Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells between the hours of 9am and 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 9am and 3.30pm on Friday.
Written comments may be made to the Service Director - Regulatory Services, Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SA within 21 days from the date of the publication of this notice. Alternatively, representations can be made online by visiting our web site at

To do this, please contact your nearest library to book time on a personal computer.Please state clearly whether you are objecting, supporting or making a general comment.
