What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, SOUTH LAKELAND LOCALITY)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.6) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 373 3306 or via the Westmorland and Furness Council website. The references to quote are detailed in the Schedule.

The Order will come into operation on 6th July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for those dates as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. Priest Lane and Park View, Cartmel – From 6th July 2026 for Approx. duration 3 days (Ref:TTROW/I1911)

Park View, Cartmel, from a point approx. 20 metres north west of its junction with the U5176, extending in a predominantly north direction for approx. 215 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Park View, C5040, C5053, C5041, The Causeway and C5040.

Priest Lane, Cartmel, from a point approx. 25 metres west of its junction with Barn Garth, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 155 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Priest Lane, C5041, The Causeway, C5040 and Cavendish Street.

2. Bank Top Close, Cark – From 13th July 2026 for Approx. duration 3 days (Ref:TTROW/I9191)

From its junction with the C5041, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 15 metres.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

3. Priory Lane, Kents Bank, Grange-Over-Sands – From 15th July 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref:TTROW/I9286)

From its junction with Kentsford Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 150 metres.

Alternative Route: via Kentsford Road and the unrestricted section of Priory Lane.

4. Aynsome Lane, Cartmel – From 15th July 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref:TTROW/I9287)

From its junction with Crag Lane, extending in a predominantly north direction for approx. 155 metres.

Alternative Route: Via the unrestricted sections of Aynsome Lane, U5178, C5053, U5183 and the C5041.

5. Crag Lane, Cartmel – From 15th July 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref:TTROW/I9288)

From its junction with the C5041, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 185 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Crag Lane, Aynsome Lane and the C5041.

6. C5057, Garnett Bridge – From 21st July 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref:TTROW/I1987)

From a point approx. 1.6 kilometres north west from its junction with the U5274, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 1.2 kilometres.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

7. B5278, Low Wood – From 27th July 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref:TTROW/I9412)

From its junction with the U5195, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 825 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5278, A590, B5271 and the B5277.
