TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, having made an Order on 23/06/2025 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has been directed by the Secretary of State for Transport that the order shall continue in force as follows:-
To prohibit any pedestrians from proceeding along the Non definitive footpath – between Town fields Close and Duke Street, Bury, to prevent any danger to users as maintenance works have not yet been completed.
Closure until 22/12/2026 or until completion of works, if earlier.
Note that there is no alternative route.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:-
Ganton Avenue, Whitefield, Delph Lane, Ainsworth, Square Street, Ramsbottom, Queen’s Drive & Rochester Avenue, Prestwich, Lakeside, Hampson Mill Lane, School Street & Springside Road, Bury
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works
The alternate routes will be: Ganton Avenue – via Standmoor Road, Ringley Drive & Ten Acre Drive & vice versa; Square Street – via Bridge St, Bolton St & Kay Brow & vice-versa; Queen’s Drive/Rochester Avenue – via Bury New Rd & Kings Rd & vice-versa; Hampson Mill Lane – via Manchester Rd & Leyton Dr & vice-versa
The proposed Order will come into operation on 06/07/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works at each location is approximately up to 5 weeks.

(VARIOUS STREETS, ROYDS STREET, KIRKLEES STREET, BERYL AVENUE, TOTTINGTON) (TOTTINGTON’S BIG DAY OUT 2026 CONCERT/EVENT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public during the holding of Tottington’s Big Day Out at St John’s Cricket Field (Tottington Sports Club), the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intends in not less than 7 days from the date of this notice, to make an Order the effect of which will be:-
1. To introduce a temporary prohibition of driving restriction in the following length of roads specified in column 2 during the dates and times specified in column 1 in Schedule 1 below:

3. The proposed Order shall come into operation on 05/07/2026 and will remain in force on Sunday 05/07/2026 until completion of the event.
4. If there are safety concerns, the restrictions may remain in place longer than specified above.
5. The restrictions will only have effect at such times and to such extent as indicated by the display of traffic signs and/or notices and access will be maintained for residents.
