(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC)

ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

The references to quote are detailed in the schedule.

The Order will come into operation on 6th July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 month in total and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

  1. C5059 Underbarrow – 6th July 2026 – Approx. duration 5 days (Ref:TTROW/19093)

From its junction with Grigg Hall Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 250m.

Alternative Route: via C5048, A5074, A590, A6 and the unrestricted section of the C5059.

  1. A5074 Crosthwaite – (Ref:TTROW/18994)

From a point adjacent to a property known as Gilpin Bridge Inn, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 5.5km.

Alternative Route: via the A592, A590 and the unrestricted section of the A5074.

  1. A5074 Bowness – (Ref:TTROW/19000)

    From its junction with the A592, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 2km.

    Alternative Route: via the A591 and the A592.

  2. C5059 Underbarrow – (Ref:TTROW/19234)

    From its junction with the C5048 Underbarrow Road, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 2.6km.

    Alternative Route: via the C5048 Underbarrow Road, A5074, A590 and the unrestricted section of the C5059.
