NOTICE OF TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC – ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – Church Hill, Knutsford
Notice is hereby given that the Cheshire East Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers has made an order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic.
Prohibition of traffic – Church Hill, Knutsford – From outside House NO1 to the junction of King Street.
The alternative route will be via King Street, Garden Road, Tatton Street, Canute Place, King Edward Road, Adams Hill which is considered the most suitable route.
This order will come into operation on Saturday 20th June 2026 and will continue in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Friday 17th July 2026.

Notice is hereby given that the Cheshire East Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers has made an order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic.
Prohibition of traffic – Coppice Way, Handforth – For the full extent.

This order will come into operation on Monday 22nd June 2026 and will continue in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Sunday 12th July 2026.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – (PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 22 (PART) IN THE PARISH OF HANDFORTH) – Temporary Prohibition of Pedestrians Order 2026)
Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 14 (1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, that the Cheshire East Borough Council proposes to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following:
That length of Public Footpath No. 22 Handforth which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 8650 8328 and runs in a generally east northeast direction for approx. 161m. to OSGR SJ 8665 8335.
The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger posed by surfacing works on or near the Public Footpath. The works are expected to take approximately 8 weeks to complete.
The Order will come into force on 13th July 2026 and will continue in force for a period of six months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner.
The Order does not prevent at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the path or way affected by this Order.
NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF MODIFICATION ORDER – WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 SECTION 53 – COUNCIL DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT
(Addition of Public Footpaths Nos. 17 & 18, Parish of Plumley) Modification Order 2023
On the 9 February 2026 the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above-named Order. The effect of the order, as confirmed without modification, is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding 2 footpaths:
Public Footpath 17, Plumley commencing at its junction with FP 15 at OSGR SJ7094 7534 and running in a generally south easterly direction for approx 12m to OSGR SJ7094 7533 then turning to run in a generally south westerly direction for approx 104m to OSGR SJ7087 7525 then curving south easterly, easterly then south easterly again for approx 46m to OSGR SJ7091 7523 then running in a generally south westerly direction for approx 265m to OSGR SJ7070 7509 then turning to run in a generally northerly direction for approx 108m to OSGRSJ 7066 7519 and finally turning to run in a westerly and south westerly direction for approx 124m to its junction with FP18 at OSGR SJ7056 7515
AND
Public Footpath 18, Plumley commencing at its junction with FP15 opposite the end of Ascol Drive at OSGR SJ7055 7515 and running in a generally south easterly direction for approx 7m to its junction with FP17 at OSGR SJ7056 7515 then turning to run in a generally south south westerly direction for approx 8m to OSGRSJ 7055 7514 and continuing in a generally south south westerly then south south easterly direction for approx 386m to OSGR SJ 7068 7482 then running in a generally easterly direction for approx 209m to OSGR SJ 7088 7486 and finally turning to run in a generally northerly then north north westerly then north westerly direction for approx 481m to OSGR SJ7055 7514.
A copy of the confirmed Order and Map has been deposited and may be seen free of charge during normal office hours in the Public Rights of Way office and at the offices of Cheshire East Borough Council Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe CW1 2LL. Copies of the Order and the Map may be obtained free of charge by email from prow@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
The Order became operative as from 9 February 2026, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity of the Order on the ground that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 of the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, he or she may, within 42 days from the 18 June 2026 make an application to the High Court under paragraph 12 of the said Schedule 15.
