What is happening?

Manchester City Council proposes to make the CITY OF MANCHESTER (RACKHOUSE ROAD, ORTON ROAD, SALE ROAD AND WYTHENSHAWE ROAD, NORTHENDEN AND BROOKLANDS) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND AMENDMENT) ORDER 2026 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce the following:

NO WAITING AT ANY TIME
Orton Road, both sides from Wythenshawe Road northerly for 8m. Rackhouse Road, (i) both sides from Wythenshawe Road northerly for 13m, (ii) east side from Sale Road northerly for 20m, (iii) east side from Sale Road southerly for 18m, (iv) west side from Sale Road northerly for 16m, (v) west side from Sale Road southerly for 21m. Sale Road, (i) northeast side from 8m northwest of Rackhouse Road south-easterly to 5m southeast of Rackhouse Road, (ii) southwest side from 5m northwest of Rackhouse Road south-easterly to 10m southeast of Rackhouse Road. Wythenshawe Road, both sides from 16m west of Orton Road easterly to 13m east of Orton Road.

An existing Order will be amended to be consistent with the proposals. A copy of the proposed Order, the Order it is proposed to amend, a Statement of Reasons, and a plan showing the proposals can be requested by emailing phlegal@manchester.gov.uk or examined in person by appointment at the Customer Service Centre, Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm. Objections to the proposals must be sent in writing to phlegal@manchester.gov.uk or to the address below, stating the grounds on which they are made, no later than 17th July 2026.
