NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 23(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has resolved to introduce a puffin crossing on the following street:
• B5207 Church Lane, Lowton at a point 20 metres northwest of its junction with Alderley Avenue for a distance of 2.8 metres.

Leigh Road, Atherton – Prohibition of Waiting
Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.634) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:
• Leigh Road, Atherton (Both sides) from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Caton Drive to a point 78 metres south of its junction with Caton Drive.
• Caton Drive, Atherton (Both sides) from its junction with Leigh Road to a point 10 metres east of its junction with Leigh Road.
• Hansom Drive, Atherton (Both sides) from its junction with Leigh Road to a point 10 metres west of its junction with Leigh Road.
• Leigh Road (Service road – northern junction) (Both sides) from its junction with Leigh Road to a point 10 metres west of its junction with Leigh Road.
• Leigh Road (Service road – southern junction) (Both sides) from its junction with Leigh Road to a point 10 metres west of its junction with Leigh Road.
• Leigh Road, Atherton (East side) from a point 10 metres north of its junction with Leigh Road (Service road – northern junction) to a point 10 metres south of its junction with Leigh Road (Service road – northern junction).
• Leigh Road, Atherton (East side) from a point 10 metres north of its junction with Leigh Road (Service road – southern junction) to a point 10 metres south of its junction with Leigh Road (Service road – southern junction).
There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading; or the avoidance of an accident.
The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.

Pennington Road, Leigh – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Pennington Road, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 24th June 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Pennington Road, Leigh from 24th June 2026 until 3rd July 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is:
Newlands Road – Bonnywell Road.
The Order is necessary to allow new electric connection.
Parsonage Way, Leigh – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Parsonage Way, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 24th June 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Parsonage Way, Leigh on 24th June 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: Atherleigh Way – Leighbrook Way.
The Order is necessary to allow frame and cover.
Crompton Way, Lowton – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Crompton Way, Lowton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Crompton Way, Lowton on 27th July 2026 to 29th July 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: Newton Road – Pocket Nook Lane.
The Order is necessary to allow new electric connection.
Bag Lane, Atherton – Temporary Closure Order

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Bag Lane, Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 30th June 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Bag Lane, Atherton on 30th June 2026 between the hours of 09:30 and 11:30 only.
The alternative route for traffic is: Gloucester Street – Wigan Road – Mealhouse Lane.
The Order is necessary to allow frame and cover.
Meadowgrass Gardens, Worsley – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Meadowgrass Gardens, Worsley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 15th June 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Meadowgrass Gardens, Worsley on 15th June 2026 between the hours of 09:30 and 13:00 only.
Access will be maintained where possible for residents.
The Order is necessary to allow frame and cover.
Public Footpath Tyldesley No.134 (Part) – Temporary Closure
Notice of Extension
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has extended the above Order.
The effect of the extension will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable, from using Tyldesley No. 134 from Point A at its junction with Bridgewater Road between properties numbers 13 & 15 as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371968 401422, to Point B at its junction with Silk Mill Street as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371742 401740 for a distance of approximately 455 metres in a generally north westerly direction, until 5th January 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever occurs sooner.
The alternative route is available via the road network east or west to the Leigh Guided Busway.
The Order is necessary to safeguard the public from the proposed development of the site.
