ST. HELENS BOROUGH COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (as Amended) – SECTION 14(1)

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF ST. HELENS (RIVINGTON ROAD, ST HELENS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the St. Helens Borough Council propose not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in either direction along Rivington Road between Ainsworth Road and Trafalgar Street, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.

The Order will come into force on Tuesday 28th July, 2026, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works, which is expected to be five weeks. The alternative route will be via A570 Dentons Green Lane, A570 Greenfield Road, A570 Dentons Green Lane, A570 Boundary Road, A570 Kirkland Street, A58 Prescot Road, Eccleston Street, Knowsley Road and vice versa.

The reason for making this Order is to facilitate the replacement of a trash screen to prevent flooding.
