Croydon - Multiple Temporary Road Closures, Traffic Restrictions & Parking Suspensions Due To Various Works
What is happening?
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON
Croydon Council - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Roke Road & Footpath No.48 (The Railway Footbridge Between Roke Road And Little Roke Road) Kenley - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic & Parking
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate refurbishment works to the railway footbridge, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic and parking in Roke Road and Footpath No. 48.
2. During the work:
a) Footpath No. 48 (the railway footbridge between Roke Road and Little Roke Road) will be closed to pedestrians.
b) Roke Road will be closed to vehicular traffic northwest bound (towards No. 1 Oaks Road) between its junctions with Oaks Road.
c) Parking will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions prohibiting parking and loading will apply at any time on both sides of the road outside Nos. 11 to 17 Roke Road.
3. Whilst the closure of Roke Road remains in force the alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via: Roke Road and Oaks Road.
Pedestrians affected by the closure of Footpath No. 48 will be diverted via: Roke Road, Park Road, Hayes Lane, Godstone Road and Little Roke Road.
4. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 11 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months (in relation to the footpath closure) and 18 months (in relation to the closure of Roke Road) to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

Croydon Council - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Vincent Road & Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon - Temporary Prohibition Of Parking
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate telecoms’ civils works and the replacement of a telephone pole on behalf of O2, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit parking on Vincent Road and Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon.
2. During the works parking will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions prohibiting parking and loading will apply at any time in the following locations.
a) Vincent Road – on both sides of the road between its junction with Chipstead Valley Road and the common boundaries of Nos. 8 and 10 and Nos. 7 and 9 Vincent Road.
b) Chipstead Valley Road – outside Nos. 294 to 306 Chipstead Valley Road.
3. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 26 June 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

Croydon Council - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Aurelia Gardens, Thornton Heath - Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas service alteration works by SGN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic movements in Aurelia Gardens, Thornton Heath.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place, Aurelia Gardens will be closed between the common boundary of Nos. 42 and 43 Aurelia Gardens and the turning circle at the southeastern end of the road.
3. During the closure access to properties will be maintained.
4. The Order will come into operation on 02 July 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed within four days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further works be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

Croydon Council - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Bridle Road, Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate remedial works to a reinstatement on behalf of Thames Water, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Bridle Road, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place, Bridle Road will be closed northbound from its junction with Shirley Way to its junction with Worcester Close.
3. During the closure traffic will be diverted via: Shirley Way, West Way, Shirley Church Road, Upper Shirley Road, and Wickham Road.
4. The Order will come into operation on 07 July 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 08 July 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) A vehicle involved in the said work.
(b) A vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) Anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate sewer connection works they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic in Factory Lane, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Factory Lane will be closed between its junction with Martin Crescent and the western boundary and No. 52 Factory Lane.
3. During the closure, the alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be as detailed below.
- Via Mitcham Road, Purley Way, Stafford Road, Duppas Hill Road, Old Town and Roman Way.
- Via Roman Way, Old Town, Duppas Hill Road, Purley Way, Mitcham Road, Derby Road, Piltable and Cutbert Road.
4. The Order will come into operation on 06 July 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 16 July 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle or person involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate Thames Water works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic and parking on Gatestone Road.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Gatestone Road will be closed between its junction with Bedwardine Road and the common boundary of Nos. 9 and 11 Gatestone Road.
b) Parking within the closure area will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time.
3. During the works the diversion routes for vehicular traffic will be via: Gatestone Road, Central Hill, South Vale, Bedwardine Road, and reversed.
4. The Order will come into operation on 06 July 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 31 July 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate cable installation works on behalf of UKPN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic movements in Park Road, South Norwood.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Park Road will be closed between its junctions with Holmesdale Road and Bungalow Road.
3. During the closure, the alternative routes for traffic will be as detailed below.
- Eastbound Via: Selhurst Road, Whitworth Road, and Whitehorse Road.
- Westbound Via: Whitehorse Road, Clifton Road, and Selhurst Road.
4. The Order will come into operation on 06 July 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 26 July 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.
