THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 50 TO JUNCTION 52) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable resurfacing works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Wednesday 15 July 2026 for 1 month, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to close the A1(M) northbound:

(i) carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 50 to the entry slip road at Junction 52, a distance of 26900 metres;

(ii) entry slip road at Junction 50, exit and entry slip roads at Junction 51 and exit slip road at Junction 52.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day to impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A1(M) northbound:

(iii) carriageway from 1600 metres south of the exit slip road at Junction 50 to 200 metres north of the entry slip road at Junction 52, a distance of 28700 metres; and

(iv) exit and entry slip roads at Junction 50, Junction 51 and Junction 52.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
