THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (PORTRACK INTERCHANGE TO STOCKTON ROAD INTERCHANGE)

(50 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

National Highways Limited hereby gives notice that it intends to make an Order under section 84(1)(a) and (2) of, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A19 Trunk Road in the County of Cleveland.

The effect of the Order, if made, would be to impose a 50mph speed limit on the A19:

(i) northbound carriageway from 50 metres north of the exit slip road at Stockton Road Interchange to the entry slip road at Portrack Interchange, a distance of 2420 metres;

(ii) southbound carriageway from 50 metres north of the exit slip road at Portrack Interchange to 140 metres north of the entry slip road at Stockton Road Interchange, a distance of 2500 metres; and

(iii) northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Portrack Interchange.

A copy of the proposed Order, a plan illustrating the proposal and a statement explaining National Highways Limited reasons for proposing to make this Order, may be inspected during normal opening hours at Stockton Customer Service Centre, Central Library, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1TU or obtained by emailing orders-leeds@nationalhighways.co.uk

Any person wishing to object or make representations to the proposed Order should email a statement of their objection to Mark Conlon@nationalhighways.co.uk. The objection should quote the above title and must be received not later than Friday 10 July 2026. Information provided in response to this consultation, including personal information, may be subject to publication or disclosure in accordance with the access to information regimes (these are primarily the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004).
