The Council on 12/6/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 177 metre length of Footpath No. 30 Hurworth Burn Reservoir Bridge, Wingate, from the junction with footpath No. 29 extending southwards across Hurworth Burn Reservoir Bridge to enable remedial works owing to an unsafe footbridge to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure, any alternative diversion available will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works commenced under urgent 21 day notice and need to be extended from 8am on Thursday 25/6/2026, the duration of the works are anticipated to be 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
