What is happening?

NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1)(B) And (7) - The A1(M) Motorway (Junction 7) Slip Roads (Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic) Order 202_

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway at Stevenage in Hertfordshire to allow for pedestrian safety in relation to a large-scale music event at Knebworth House.

The traffic safety measures would be in place from 4:00am on Saturday 11 July 2026 until 2:00pm on Sunday 12 July 2026.

The effect of the Order would be to close the A1(M) northbound exit and entry slip roads and the southbound exit slip road at Junction 7.

Northbound traffic wishing to exit at J7 would be diverted to continue north to exit at Junction 8 then via: the A602 Hitchin Road, A1072 Gunels Wood Road and A602 Broadhall Way back to J7 to continue their journey;
vice versa for traffic wishing to enter the northbound carriageway;
southbound traffic wishing to exit at J7 would exit at J8 and follow the diversion route described above.

The closures (which would not apply to emergency service or traffic officer vehicles) and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order would come into force on 6 July 2026 and remain in force until the event has ended and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
