What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Hedingham Road, Gestingthorpe) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hedingham Road, Gestingthorpe in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 240m north east of its junction with Little Maplestead Road for a distance of approximately 320m in a north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th July 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (HP00151094918 – National Grid). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while vegetation clearance works are undertaken by National Grid.

An alternative route is available via A131, Church Road, Bulmer Street, Lower Houses, Sudbury Road, Church Street, Audley End, Moat Street and vice versa (with access only into Hedingham Road and Broad Road).

The Order will come into effect on 25th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Brook Street, Halstead Urban) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brook Street, Halstead Urban in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 45m east then south east of its junction with Fenn Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th June 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02267557873 – Down To Earth Landscapes Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while vegetation and tree limb removal works are undertaken by Down To Earth Landscapes Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Fenn Road, A1124, Station Road and vice versa (with access only into Brook Street and Halstead Road).

The Order came into effect on 11th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cricks Road, Colne Engaine & Hill House Road, Pebmarsh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cricks Road, Colne Engaine & Hill House Road, Pebmarsh in the District of Braintree, from the junction with The Street to the junction with Overhall Hill a distance of approximately 2930m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th June 2026 for 16 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2393985 & EP201EH2393986 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Overhall Hill, Green Farm Road, The Green, Pebmarsh Road, Colne Road, Levitts Corner, Clay Hills, The Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 11th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
