Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under S81, 82(1) & (2)(b), 83(2), 84(1)(a) and (2), and Parts IV and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)
Effect of the order: To Implement: ‘a ‘20mph Zone’ on the following length of roads, including private drives and turning heads.

Application to the high court: Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.
(High Street/East Hill/East Street, Colchester)
(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in those lengths of High Street/East Hill/East Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from the junction with Queen Street to the junction with East Bay a distance of approximately 660m.
“The Essex County Council (Borough of Colchester) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforesaid Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force”.
The clearway is scheduled to commence on 27th July 2026 for 32 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20111982338, EP20114907523 & EP20106182345 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while construction works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
The Order will come into effect on 25th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Old London Road, Marks Tey) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Old London Road, Marks Tey in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 10m south east of its junction with Marks Tey Roundabout for a distance of approximately 600m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th July 2026 – (21:00-05:00) for 83 nights, or where stated on a valid permit (FN40629271109 – National Highways Ltd). (Station Road, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of Bus Lane) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily suspend the bus lane in that length of Station Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester from a point approximately 85m south west then south east of its junction with North Station Roundabout for a distance of approximately 50m in a southerly then south westerly direction as detailed in the “The Colchester Borough Council (Reserved Bus Lane) Order 2000” for the duration of the closure only.
