What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Temporary Closing Of The Service Road Fronting Nos.81a-99 Old Watford Road, Bricket Wood) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the service road fronting Nos.81a-99 Old Watford Road, Bricket Wood from its junction with Broad Acre south westwards for a distance of approximately 48m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Broad Acre, Old Watford Road and the service road fronting Nos.81a-99 Old Watford Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 9 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Traffic Management Measures On Various Roads In St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads ("the Roads") will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A5183 (High Street/Verulam Road), St Albans from its junction with A1081 Chequer Street north westwards to its junction with College Street, a distance of approximately 399m, except for access.
An alternative route will be via: A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

2. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a left turn manoeuvre from George Street into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

3. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a left turn manoeuvre from Lower Dagnall Street into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

4. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Market Place into A5183 High Street, St Albans, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 High Street, A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

5. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Upper Dagnall Street into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/ St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

6. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Britton Avenue into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/ St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 21 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Beresford Road, St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Beresford Road, St Albans from its junction with Camp Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Camp Road, Wellington Road, Cambridge Road and Beresford Road.

The Order is needed because gas works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 22 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Various Roads And Restricted Byway In Wheathampstead) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads") and restricted byway ("the Restricted Byway"), except for access:-
1. that length of Valley Rise, Wheathampstead from its junction with A1081 Lower Luton Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 10m.
An alternative route will be via: A1081 Lower Luton Road, Castle Rise, Manor Road and Valley Rise.

2. that length of Castle Rise, Wheathampstead from its junction with A1081 Lower Luton Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 10m.
An alternative route will be via: A1081 Lower Luton Road, Valley Rise, Manor Road and Castle Rise.

3. the service road fronting Nos.330-370 Lower Luton Road, Wheathampstead from its junction with Valley Rise south eastwards to its junction with Castle Rise, a distance of approximately 280m.
An alternative route will be via: Valley Rise, Manor Road and Castle Rise.

4. that length of B651 (Station Road/High Street), Wheathampstead from its junction with the B653 Lower Luton Road/B651 Lamer Lane roundabout south westwards for a distance of approximately 177m.
An alternative route will be via: B653 Lower Luton Road/Lower Harpenden Road, A1081 (New Airport Way/London Road/Luton Road/High Street/St Albans Road/Harpenden Road/St Peters Street), B651 (Stonecross/Sandridge Road/St Albans Road/High Street/Wheathampstead Road/The Hill) and B651 The Hill.

5. that length of Marshall Heath Lane, Wheathampstead from its junction with B653 Lower Luton Road north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 500m.
An alternative route will be via: B653 Lower Luton Road, B651 Lamer Lane, The Slype and Marshall Heath Lane.

6. that length of Cherry Tree Lane, Wheathampstead from its junction with B653 Lower Luton Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via: B653 Lower Luton Road, B651 (Station Road/High Street), Church Street, Brewhouse Hill, Harpenden Road, Wheathampstead Road, Leasey Bridge Lane and Cherry Tree Lane.

7. the service road fronting Nos.280-326 Lower Luton Road, Wheathampstead from a point in line with the western boundary of No.296 Lower Luton Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 40m.
An alternative route will be via: the service road fronting Nos.326-280 Lower Luton Road, Castle Rise and B653 Lower Luton Road.

8. Wheathampstead Restricted Byway No.106 from its junction with B653 Lower Luton Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 500m.

The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Restricted Byway.

The Order will come into effect from 22 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 6 months to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Rothamsted Avenue, Harpenden) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Rothamsted Avenue, Harpenden from a point in line with the north western boundary of No.22 Rothamsted Avenue south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 63m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Rothamsted Avenue, St Andrews Avenue, Longcroft Avenue, Kirkwick Avenue, Salisbury Avenue and Rothamsted Avenue.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 23 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
