PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER (NO.5) 2026

The above named order, made on the 16 June 2026 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the public footpath running from:

• that part of the footpath BCC/4 over the land near Lawrence Weston Road, Avonmouth & Lawrence Weston shown by a bold continuous line on the map accompanying the Order, at grid reference 354059 179216, in a south-easterly direction for approximately 104 metres parallel to Lawrence Weston Road to grid reference 354133 179159, then running in a north-easterly direction for approximately 297 metres to the Salt Rhine at grid reference 354343 179368, then running in a north-north-westerly direction for approximately 146 metres along the Salt Rhine to grid reference 354290 179504, then running in a north-westerly direction for approximately 492 metres, including over the M49 via bridge, to grid reference 353976 179837, then running in an east-north-easterly direction for approximately 48 metres to grid reference 354022 179851, then running in a north-north-westerly direction for approximately 60 metres to grid reference 353989 179901, to meet that unaffected part of BCC/4, being a total distance of approximately 1147 metres; to a line running from:

• that part of the footpath BCC/4 over the land near Lawrence Weston Road, Avonmouth & Lawrence Weston shown by a bold broken line on the map accompanying the Order, at grid reference 353889 179362 at Lawrence Weston Road, in north-easterly and northerly directions for a distance of approximately 612 metres along a drainage channel and pond to grid reference 353989 179901 to meet that unaffected part of BCC/4, a total length of approximately 612 metres with a width of approximately 1.5 metres along its entire length as shown on the order map accompanying the order.

The order is also made under Section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (the 1981 Act) because it appears to the authority that the City Council of Bristol definitive map and statement require modification in consequence of the occurrence of an event specified in section 53(3)(a)(i) of the 1981 Act, namely the diversion of a highway shown or required to be shown in the map and statement.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the offices of Bristol City Council, City Hall, Bristol BS1 5TR, during normal office hours. Copies of the order and map may be bought there at a price of 30p. Copies of the order and order map may be sent by second class post on receipt of a written request at a price of £6 to cover the Council’s administrative costs.

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing to the Service Director, Legal and Democratic Services, City Hall PO Box 3300, Bristol BS1 9LN, quoting reference DB3/22069052, not later than 31 July 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Bristol City Council may confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.
