Nelson - Multiple Traffic Notices

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BRADSHAW STREET, RIPON STREET, REAR 2 TO 34 RIPON STREET, PERCY STREET, NELSON, PENDLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over those lengths of
i. Bradshaw Street, Nelson from its junction with Beaufort Street to its junction with Rear 3 to 83 Percy Street.
ii. Ripon Street, Nelson from its junction with Bradshaw Street to outside 20 Ripon Street.
iii. Rear 2 to 34 Ripon Street, Nelson from its junction with Bradshaw Street to the rear of 26 Percy Street
iv. Percy Street, Nelson from outside 26 Percy Street to outside 53 Percy Street
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0730 hours on Monday 29th June 2026 until 1630 hours on Tuesday 29th September 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Princess Street – Hibson Road – Beaufort Street – Bentley Street and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway and footway improvements.
