What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 4 (Threadkrells Footbridge), Feering) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 4, Feering in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Coggeshall Road Southwest to its junction with Footpath 22, approximately 1,000 metres.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 1 July 2026 to 30 July 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the refurbishment of Threadkrells footbridge (on Footpath 4) is undertaken.

Alternative route: No suitable diversion route available.

The Order will come into effect on 01 July 2026 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Stebbing Road, The Salings/Newpasture Lane, Stebbing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Stebbing Road, The Salings/Newpasture Lane, Stebbing in the District of Uttlesford and District of Braintree, from the junction of Stebbing Green to the junction of Crows Green a distance of approximately 2330m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH24097661 & EP201EH2409949 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Stebbing Green, B1256, Blake End, The Street, Bardfield Road, Stebbing Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 25th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Green, White Notley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & South Street, Braintree and Bocking) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of The Green, White Notley in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 555m north east then north west of its junction with Pole Lane for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.
  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of South Street, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Silks Way, to its junction with Railway Street as detailed in “The Essex County Council (South Street, Braintree) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2010” for the duration of the closure only.

The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 15th July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166987621 – Anglian Water Business (National) Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National) Limited.

An alternative route is available via B1256, B1018, Chipping Hill, Powers Hall End and vice versa (with access only into The Green, Witham Road, The Street, Notley Road, Flora Road, Faulkbourne Road, Church Hill, The Street, Witham Road and The Green).

The Order will come into effect on 25th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Honeysuckle Way, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Honeysuckle Way, Witham in the District of Braintree from a point approximately 165m south west of its junction with Oxlip Road for distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly direction. The footpath closure is scheduled to commence on 29th June 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGTD5T2P – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The footpath closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.

An alternative route is available via Honeysuckle Way and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 11th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Braintree Bypass – A131, Braintree and Bocking) (Layby Only) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.17) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.
  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the abovementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 11th June 2026; exact dates will be specified on one.network. The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
