THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, BOROUGH OF OADBY AND WIGSTON)
CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2022
(LEICESTER ROAD, OADBY, BOROUGH OF OADBY AND WIGSTON) (AMENDMENT 1) ORDER 202
THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 19, 32, 35, 45, 46, 47, 49 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be:
The variation introduces two related changes on Leicester Road. The existing limited waiting bay is reduced by approximately 5 metres at its eastern end, and the adjacent “no waiting at any time” restriction is extended westwards by a corresponding 5 metres. The effect is that the section of kerb previously available for limited waiting becomes subject to a continuous prohibition of waiting.
The variation is required to facilitate the extension of the footway by way of a build-out, improving intervisibility between drivers and pedestrians using the existing crossing, which is to be incorporated within a raised table.
The build-out and raised junction table at the junction of Leicester Road with Stoughton Road and Spencer Street forms part of the wider Oadby A6 Parade scheme.
A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA or at the offices of Oadby & Wigston Borough Council of Hill Country Park, Washbrook Lane, Oadby, LE2 5JJ.
