What is happening?

Somerset Council Parish of Taunton Temporary Closure of Hammet Street

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Hammet Street - from the junction with Church Square to the junction with The Parade Roundabout. A total distance of 118 metres. This Order will enable Ainscough Crane Hire Ltd to carry out mobile crane works to lift air conditioning units.

The Order becomes effective on 2nd July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 12th July 2026 and last until 12th July 2026 between the hours of 08:00 - 18:30 for a total of 10.5 hours.
