What is happening?

DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT

TRANSPORT ACT 1968 AND ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT 1981

Notice is hereby given that a Public Local Inquiry in connection with the Order mentioned below will be held by an Inspector appointed for the purpose by the Secretary of State for Transport beginning at 10:00 am on Tuesday 07 July 2026 at the Combined Authority Chamber, No 1 Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP to hear representations from remaining objectors (as defined in the Compulsory Purchase (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 2007) from any other persons having an interest in the land the subject of the Compulsory Purchase Order and, at the Inspectors discretion, to hear representations from any other persons who may desire to appear and be heard.

The Order has been made by the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive under the above-mentioned Acts and submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation and is:- THE MERSEYSIDE PASSENGER TRANSPORT EXECUTIVE (BUS FRANCHISING, BUS DEPOTS) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2025

This is an Order under Section 10(3) of the Transport Act 1968 and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, which if confirmed, will authorise the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive to compulsory purchase the land required for the purpose of facilitating bus franchising across the region.

Copies of the Order and plan above have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours free of charge at the offices of Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, No 1 Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP and online at Bus Depots Compulsory Purchase Order / Liverpool City Region Combined Authority

Copies of any proofs of evidence, sent to or by the promoting authority are also available for inspection at the offices of Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, No 1 Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP and online at Bus Depots Compulsory Purchase Order/Liverpool City Region Combined Authority from 16 June 2026.
