What is happening?

PUBLIC NOTICE

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL
(A6 RUSHDEN ROAD, SHARNBROOK)
(50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 11th June 2026 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:

Effect of the Order:

1.  To revoke the existing 60mph speed limit and replace with a 50mph speed limit on the following length of road:-

A Rushden Road, Sharnbrook (A6)
(i) From a point 17.14 metres north west of the
projected centre point of the A6/Bletsoe Road/
Mill Road Roundabout, continuing in a north
westerly direction to a point 31.3 metres north
west of the projected centre point of the junction
with Park Lane

Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 22nd June 2026 or as soon as practicable after this date.

A Copy of the Order may be viewed at www.bedford.gov.uk/implementedtro.

High Court Challenge: Any person who desires to question the validity of this Order or any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date of this Notice, make application for that purpose to the High Court.
