Whitley Lane - Temporary Road Closure Due To Overhead Cabling Works

Somerset Council Parish of Walton Temporary Closure of Whitley Lane

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Whitley Lane - from the junction with Sharpham Lane to the junction with Main Street. A total distance of 713 metres.

This Order will enable Openreach to carry out overhead cabling works.

The Order becomes effective on 2nd July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 9th July 2026 and last until 9th July 2026 between the hours of 9:30 - 15:30 for a total of 6 hours.

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
