What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(LYDDS HILL, RIDGMONT)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Lydds Hill, Ridgmont outside number 7.

This temporary closure is required to enable stoptap replacement works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 15 to 17 July. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via High St, Station Rd and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 15 July 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(PARK STREET, AMPTHILL)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Park Street, Ampthill outside number 22.

This temporary closure is required to enable atplas repair work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 1 to 7 July. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via Park Hill, B530, Bedford Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 1 July 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE A  20MPH SPEED LIMIT ON LODGE ROAD, CRANFIELD

Reason for proposal: The proposed 20mph speed limit on Lodge Road supports a road safety scheme requested by Cranfield Parish Council. The Quiet Lane designation aims to improve safety and encourage active travel, reflecting regular use by pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians, as well as its role on National Cycle Network Route 51. Measures such as gateway features and imprinted surfacing will reinforce the reduced speed limit and promote driver compliance.

Effect of the Order:

To introduce a 20mph Speed Limit on the following length of road in Cranfield;

1. Lodge Road, for its full length.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE NO WAITING AT ANY TIME ON VARIOUS ROADS, HOUGHTON CONQUEST

Reason for proposal: The waiting restrictions are intended to address indiscriminate parking and to ensure that junctions are not obstructed by parked vehicles.

Effect of the Order:

To introduce No Waiting at Any Time on the following lengths of road in Houghton Conquest:-

1.  Ridge View, both sides, from the junction with High Street and extending in a south- easterly direction for approximately 10 metres.

2.  High Street, south east side, from the junction with Ridge View and extending in a north-easterly direction for approximately 10 metres.

3.  High Street, south east side, from the junction with Ridge View and extending in a south-westerly direction for approximately 10 metres.

4.  Victoria Drive, both sides, from the junction with High Street and extending in a north-westerly direction for approximately 10 metres.

5.  High Street, north-west side, from the junction with Victoria Drive and extending in a north-easterly direction for approximately 17 metres.

6.  High Street, north-west side, from the junction with Victoria Drive and extending in a south-westerly direction for approximately 35 metres to bus stop road markings.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE A DISABLED PARKING BAY ON GEORGE STREET, WOBURN

Reason for proposal: The disabled parking space would provide a dedicated place for blue badge holders to park.

Effect of the Order:

To introduce Parking for Disabled badge holders only on the following length of road in Woburn:-

1.  George Street, south-west side, from a point in line with the north-western flank wall of No. 30 George Street (where the marked bays begin) and extending in a southeasterly direction covering an area approximately 6.6 metres in length and 2.2 metres in width. The bay will be marked partly on the footway and partly on the carriageway. Please see plan for clarification.
