(Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close Southdown Road in Bognor Regis from a point 90m north of Wellington Road, northwards for 40m.

The road closure is needed to allow a sewer to be repaired in safety. The Order will come into effect on 22 June 2026 and remain in force until 6 July 2026. Once made, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier.

During the operative periods of this Order alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times.

(Arun District: Various Roads)
(Roads Maintenance Programme)
(Temporary Traffic Regulation No.2) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close, temporarily prohibit waiting at any time and temporarily introduce a 20 mph speed limit throughout the whole length (unless otherwise stated) of the flowing roads in Arun District:

ALDWICK: Lincoln Avenue, Marine Drive West.
ANGMERING: Brambletyne Close.
BERSTED: Durlston Drive.
FELPHAM: Felpham Way Roundabout.
FINDON: A24 Southbound from Findon Park Road to Horsham Road.
LITTLEHAMPTON: East Street from Rosemead to St Floras Road.

These restrictions are needed to allow road maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take up to three days and dates for works will be confirmed in advance locally nearer the time they are carried out.

The Order will come into effect on 18 June 2026 and remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the proposed programme of works is completed, whichever is earlier.

During the operative periods of this Order alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times.

(Chichester District: Various Parishes – Various Roads)
(Highway Retexturing Programme)
(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close, introduce a temporary prohibition of waiting at anytime on the following roads throughout their entire lengths unless otherwise stated. This Order will also introduce a temporary 30mph speed limit on major ‘A’ class roads and a temporary 20mph speed limit on minor and non-classified roads:

Chidham & Hambrook/Nutbourne: Priors Leaze Lane;
Lavant: Forage Yard Road;
Southbourne/Nutbourne/Chidham & Hambrook/Bosham: A259, from the Hampshire County Council boundary to Station Road roundabout junction;
Wisborough Green: B2133 Newpound.

These road closures are needed to protect public safety whilst the 2026 highway retexturing programme is carried out. It is expected that the affected roads will be closed for up to 3 days. Temporary speed limits may be required in preparation for the works, during the works and in between phases of the works. The exact dates and duration of the works and the traffic management in each location will be confirmed in advance locally nearer the time.

The Order will come into effect on 18 June 2026 and remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the works programme is completed, whichever is earlier.

During the works alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times.

(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:-

(i)   Prohibit vehicles from travelling along: Claypit Lane, from Madgwick Lane northwards to New Road; Garden Furze; Kennel Hill Road (southbound), from New Road northwards to Racecourse Road; Lower Road, from Fordwater Road northwards to Pook Lane; Madgwick Lane, from Old Place Lane north-eastwards to Claypit Lane; New Road, from Claypit Lane eastwards to the A285; Pook Lane, from Fordwater Road eastwards to Kennel Hill Road; Redvins Road, from the A285 to New Barn Hill; Waterbeach Road, from New Road northwards to Hat Hill Road; Westerton Lane, from New Road to Claypit Lane; and

(ii)   Require all vehicles to travel at a speed not exceeding 30mph on: Claypitt Lane, from New Road to Madgwick Lane; Garden Furze, from New Road to Hat Hill Road; Hat Hill Road, from a point 1.25miles south of Racecourse Road southwards to Garden Furze; Madgwick Lane, from Claypit Lane to Old Place Lane; New Road, from Waterbeach Road westwards for a distance of 1.7miles; Trundle Hill/Kennel Hill Road, from a point 0.75miles south of Knights Hill southwards to New Road; and

(iii)  Require all vehicles to travel at a speed not exceeding 40mph on: Hat Hill Road, from Racecourse Road southwards for a distance of 1.25 miles; New Road, from the A285 westwards to Waterbeach Road; Racecourse Road, from Trundle Hill eastwards to Hat Hill Road; Trundle Hill, from Knights Hill southwards for 0.75 miles; and

(iv)  Prohibit vehicles from making a left turn from Kennel Hill Gate 5; from making a right turn from Hat Hill Road Gate 8b, from making a right turn from Hat Hill Road Gate 8a; from making a right turn from Hat Hill Road Gate 8c; from making a left turn from Redvins lane Campsite J; from making a right turn from Redvins Lane Car Park L; from making a left turn from Waterbeach Road Campsite H; and

(v)   Introduce a prohibition of waiting at any time on New Barn Hill, from New Road to the Cass Sculpture Foundation; and

(vi)  Introduce a prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading at any time on Garden Furze and Hat Hill Road.

This Order is necessary to protect public safety due to increased volumes of large vehicles and to manage safe access for vehicles and pedestrians during the build, holding of and breaking down of the Goodwood Festival of Speed Event 2026.

The Order will come into operation at 0800 hours on 23 June 2026 and will remain in force until 2100 hours on 15 July 2026. The manned road closures will be in place daily as necessary between 0600 hours and 2100 hours from 9 July 2026 until 15 July 2026. Access for residents will be maintained. The restricted speed limits will be in place from 0800 hours on 23 June 2026 until 2100 hours on 15 July 2026. The prohibited manoeuvres will be in place from 0600 hours on  9 July 2026 until 2100 hours on 12 July 2026.

The stopping and waiting restrictions will be in place from 0800 hours on 23 June 2026 until 1700 hours on 15 July 2026.

All alternative routes will be clearly signed on site as necessary.

(Funtington: Downs Road)
(Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice WSCC intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Downs Road between Woodend and Stoke Road.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst electrical works are undertaken.

The Order will come into effect on 8 July 2026 and will last for 18 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is proposed works will start on or after 8 July 2026 and will take 2 weeks to complete.

(Tillington: Public Footpath No. 1057)
(Temporary Closure) No. 2 Order 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that the Order made by WSCC under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and which came into force on 23 December 2025, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport, will now continue in force until 24 December 2026 or until the works are completed.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety due to a damaged bridge and to allow a new bridge to be installed.

The effect of the Order remains unchanged and is to prohibit any person from proceeding along a length of Public Footpath No 1057 from its western end at its junction with Public Footpath No. 1058_1 (grid reference 494307.778, 123479.107), eastwards to its junction with Public Bridleway No. 1027 (grid reference 494596.322, 123525.978), a distance of approximately 390 metres.

Unfortunately there is no alternative route available using the Public Rights of Way network.
