(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC, TEMPORARY ONE WAY SUSPENSION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over the following lengths roads;
I. New Street, Morecambe from its junction with Victoria Street, to its junction with Edward Street.
II. Edward Street, Morecambe from its junction with the pedestrian entrance to the car park at the rear of 31 Edward Street to outside property no.2 New Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 22nd June 2026 until 1800 hours on Friday 10th July 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Access for emergency services will be maintained. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is one way via:-
Edward Street - Union Street – Victoria Street – Central Drive and
AND FURTHER; during the temporary prohibition, the existing one way prohibition on Edward Street, Morecambe from Market Street to Victoria Street in a westerly direction, will be temporarily suspended.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to Instal new electricity connection to new development.
