SECTION 14 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (AS AMENDED)

NOTICE OF MAKING TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION ORDER IN THE BIRKENHEAD AREA 2026

Notice is hereby given that Wirral Borough Council have made the above order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by section 1 and Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers in respect of certain highways in the Birkenhead Area which the Council is satisfied are necessary to enable works on or near the roads specified in the proposed order to take place (having already advertised notice of intent).

The effect of the temporary order and the date the order comes into force, and its maximum duration is set out below.

Borough Road East and Jackson Street (Temporary Weight Restriction) Hind Street and Jackson Street (Temporary Suspension of One Way) Birkenhead Order 2026

The general nature and effect of this temporary order will be to:

(1) prohibit vehicles exceeding the maximum gross weight of 7.5 tonnes from entering or proceeding along (i) Borough Road East from its junction with Thomas Street in an easterly direction to its junction with Jackson Street (ii) Borough Road East from a point 85 metres west of its junction with Tunnel Road in a westerly direction to its junction with Jackson Street (iii) Jackson Street from its junction with Borough Road East in a southerly direction for a distance of 30 metres, and,

(2) temporarily suspend the existing one-way traffic flow restriction for (i) Hind Street for its full extent (ii) Jackson Street from its junction with Blackpool Street / Waterloo Place in a northerly direction for a distance of 85 metres and these lengths of carriageway to revert to two-way traffic flow to enable access for local businesses and deliveries.

Maximum Duration of the order: From 13 July 2026 and will continue to be in force for 18 months.

NOTICE OF MAKING TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION ORDER IN THE BIRKENHEAD AREA 2026

Notice is hereby given that Wirral Borough Council intend to make a Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by section 1 and Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 in respect of certain highways in the Birkenhead Area which the Council is satisfied are necessary to be made because of the likelihood of danger to the public and serious damage to the road.

The effect of the temporary order and the date the order comes into force, and its maximum duration is set out below.

St John Street and Catherine Street (Temporary Road Closure) Birkenhead Order 2026

The general nature and effect of this temporary order will be to close both St John Street and Catherine Street from Grange Road to Oliver Street to all vehicular traffic.

Alternative Route: Horatio Street.

Maximum Duration of the order: From 6 July 2026 and will continue to be in force for 18 months.

NOTICE OF MAKING TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION ORDER IN THE NEW BRIGHTON AREA 2026

Notice is hereby given that Wirral Borough Council have made the above order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by section 1 and Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers to enable proposed works to be executed on or near the roads specified in the proposed order (having already advertised notice of intent).

The effects of the order, the alternative route for vehicular traffic, the date the order comes into force and its maximum duration is set out below.

Milton Road (Temporary Road Closure) Birkenhead Order 2026

The effect of this order will be to close Milton Road, Birkenhead at its junction with Dingle Road for its full extent to all vehicular traffic. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.

Alternative Route: Access to be retained and managed on site for residents.

Maximum Duration of the order: From 01 July 2026 and will continue to be in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 24 July 2026.
