What is happening?

The Council of the City of Salford intends to make in no less than 7 days under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: SALFORD CITY COUNCIL (THE QUAYS METROLINK) TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026.

The Order will introduce a road closure on The Quays, at the Metrolink rail crossing station at the junction of Furness Quay, Salford, M50 3BX. The Order is necessary to enable Metrolink track renewal works during a major Metrolink rail possession.

The order is due to come into operation on Sunday 12th July 2026 and will last for a period of 18 months or until the works are completed if earlier. The works are expected to be completed by Monday 3rd August 2026. The diversion routes are via Trafford Road - Broadway - The Quays, vice versa.
