What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK 

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14(1) (EWER STREET, CONSORT ROAD, SOUTHWARK BRIDGE ROAD, UNION STREET) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) 

1. The Council of the London Borough of Southwark hereby gives notice that to enable bridge inspections by Network Rail or its appointed contractor, it intends to make an order, the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from entering part of the above named roads.

2. Whilst the works are in progress, or whilst the authorised traffic signs are in place no person shall cause any vehicle to enter, proceed, stop, wait, load or unload on

(a)Ewer Street, between Lavington Street and Union Street.

(b)Consort Road, between Copeland Road and Clayton Road.

(c)Southwark Bridge Road at the junction with Union Street.

(d)Union Street, at the junction with Southwark Bridge Road.

3. Exemptions will be provided in the Order to permit reasonable access to premises, so far as it is practical without interference with the execution of the said works.

4. The restrictions will not apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.

5. The road closure will be in place (a) 10pm on the 30th of June until 06:00 on the 1st of July 2026 (b) 10pm on the 22nd of July until 06:00 on the 23rd of July 2026. (c & d) between the 15th and 17th of July 2026, between 10pm and 6am each night.

6. The diversion route will be signed and will be adjacent roads.

7. This order remains valid for 18 months from the 25th of June 2026. Further information may be obtained by contacting Road Network Management at ttmo@southwark.gov.uk
