TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM

(GURDWARA WAY, BARKING) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE OF INTENT

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate access to a telecoms mast for testing / maintenance works, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
  2. The order is expected to come in to effect on Thursday 16 July 2026. The works expected for:

• Access to a telecoms mast for testing / maintenance works to take 2 days to complete. Completion date estimated as Friday 17th July 2026 with the work expected to be undertaken between the hours of 8.00pm on Thursday 16 July 2026 and 5.00am Friday 17th July 2026.

However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

  1. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily: -

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Gurdwara Way, south-west side, from its junction with Longbridge Road roundabout for 49.5 metres in a north-westerly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Gurdwara Way, south-west side footpath, from the pedestrian crossing at its junction with Longbridge Road roundabout for 21 metres in a north-westerly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Longbridge Road roundabout outer lane south-west bound carriageway from the common boundary of Nos. 62 and 62a Longbridge Road to the eastern kerbline of Longbridge Road north-east bound carriageway exit onto Longbridge Road roundabout.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Longbridge Road roundabout inner lane south bound carriageway from the western kerbline of Fanshawe Avenue south-east bound carriageway exit onto Longbridge Road roundabout to the south-eastern kerbline of its junction with Cecil Avenue.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Longbridge Road outer lane south-west bound carriageway from the southern building line of No. 66 Longbridge Road to the common boundary of No. 78 and 80 Longbridge Road.

• Suspend the banned right turn from Gurdwara Way into Wakering Road.

  1. While this closure is in place the following locations will temporarily be controlled by:

• Temporary pedestrian lights between the Longbridge Road roundabout and the junction of Wakering Road enabling safe crossing for pedestrian and cyclists.

  1. Alternative routes for pedestrians will be maintained and signed:

• Via Gurdwara Way, north-west side footpath

  1. Alternative routes for Vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:

• Via Fanshawe Avenue, Ilford Lane, Winston Way, Chapel Road, Ilford Hill, North Circular Road (A406), London Road and Gurdwara Way.
