(EXPERIMENTAL PART-TIME PROHIBITION OF DRIVING RESTRICTIONS) (EXTENSION) ORDER 2026
The East Dunbartonshire Council made the East Dunbartonshire
Council (Various Roads, Bishopbriggs and Lennoxtown)
(Experimental Part-Time Prohibition of Driving Restrictions) Order 2025 (“the Order”) on 17 July 2025 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in Scotland in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999. The Order is experimental and is initially in operation until 25 June 2026.The effect of the Order, which came into operation on 14 August 2025, is to introduce a part-time prohibition of driving on lengths of road in the vicinity of Thomas Muir Primary School and Meadowburn Primary School, Bishopbriggs and Lennoxtown Primary School,
Lennoxtown in the interests of road safety and traffic management. The Council has now on 16 June 2026 made a further Order, the East Dunbartonshire Council (Various Roads, Bishopbriggs and Lennoxtown) (Experimental Part-Time Prohibition of Driving Restrictions) (Extension) Order 2026 (“the Extension Order”) to extend the duration of the Order until 30 October 2026. The reason for making the Extension Order is that during the period of the Extension Order the Council will consider whether the provisions of the Order, currently experimental, should be made permanent. A copy of the Order and the Extension Order as made, together with a map showing said lengths of road and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for making the Order are available for inspection without payment of fee in the Roads section of the East Dunbartonshire Council website and at:
(i) Bishopbriggs Library and Community Hub (Mon – Thu 10am to 8pm, Fri – Sat 10am to 5pm);
(ii) Lennoxtown Community Hub (Mon and Wed 10am to 8pm; Tue, Thu, and Fri 10am to 5pm);

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Extension Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 16 June 2026, make an application for that purpose to the Court of Session. East Dunbartonshire Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely.

THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (FREELAND PLACE, KIRKINTILLOCH)
(TEMPORARY NO WAITING RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
On Tuesday, 16 June 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made a temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which makes it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle to wait in the length of roads specified in the Schedule below by reason of public safety.
The Order will come into force at 08.00 hours on Monday, 29 June 2026 until 18.00 hours on Tuesday, 28 December 2027 and will be effective between 0800 hours and 1800 hours, Monday to Saturday, for the duration of the Order.
