PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS – Public Footpath
No. 37 (Part) Parish of Kettleshulme and Lyme Handley

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, that the Cheshire East Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following:

That length of Public Footpath No. 37 which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 9619 8450 and runs in a generally west direction for approx. 142m. to OSGR SJ 9581 8459 The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger arising from river erosion of the path and bridge abutments on or adjacent to the Public Right of Way.

The Order continues the restriction that came into force on 26th May 2026 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding 6 months, or until the works required on or adjacent to the footpath are completed.

PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 3 (PART) AND PUBLIC
FOOTPATH NO.4 IN THE PARISH OF WINCLE) – Temporary Prohibition of Pedestrians Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by section 15 (5) of the aforementioned Act has approved the Order effective from the 10th December 2025 being extended and continuing in force until the 10th June 2027. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on part of the following Public Right of Way:

That length of Public Footpath Wincle No. 3 (part) which commences at its junction with Public Footpath Wincle No. 4 at OS grid reference SJ 9460 6698 and runs in a generally south westerly direction for approximately 106 meters to its junction with Public Footpath Wincle No. 3A at OS grid reference SJ 9451 6696. 

That length of Public Footpath Wincle No. 4 which commences at its junction with Public Footpath Wincle No. 3 at OS grid reference SJ 9460 6698 and runs in a generally southerly direction for 892 metres to its junction with Public Footpath Wincle No. 8 at OS grid reference SJ 9493 6626. 

The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger posed by a damaged bridge on the path.

There is no alternative route available.

This order does not prevent any pedestrians with access to premises situated on or adjacent to the public footpath onlyaccessible from the path or by any emergency vehicle.
