What is happening?

                                        Essex County Council

                       (Finchingfield Road, Steeple Bumpstead)
                   (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026                  Notice is hereby given t
hat the Essex County Council intends,
not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make
the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Finchingfield
Road, Steeple Bumpstead in the District of Braintree, from a point
approximately 130m south east of its junction with Herkstead
Lane for a distance of approximately 80m in a south easterly then
south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence
on 7th July 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit
(EP02242990532 – Ground Control). The scheduled dates may
vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or
displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety
of the public and workforce while vegetation removal works are
undertaken by Ground Control.
An alternative route is available via B1057, B1053, B1055, B1054,
B1057 and vice versa. 
The Order will come into effect on 19th June 2026 and may
continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been
completed, whichever is the earlier.
