What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U1218 HIGHBRIDGE, NEAR STOCKDALEWATH) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

AND

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (U3003 HIGHBRIDGE, NEAR STOCKDALEWATH) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council intend to make Orders the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

(i) U1218 Highbridge, near Stockdalewath, from its junction with the U3003, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 900m; and

(ii) U3003 Highbridge, near Stockdalewath, from its junction with the U1218, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 450m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the U145, C1018, C2049 and the unrestricted section of the U1218.

The Order will come into operation on 7 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 4 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
