NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.633) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:
• Edge Hall Road, Orrell (Both sides) from a point 10 metres west of its junction with the community stadium entrance to a point 10 metres east of its junction with the community stadium entrance. There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading; or the avoidance of an accident.
The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.
A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, and of the relevant map and of a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing libby.gill@wigan.gov.uk
Any objection to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan WN1 1YN or by emailing the above email address quoting reference RD/LS/LG/16831708 not later than 14th July 2026.

• Laithwaite Road, Newtown (both sides) from its junction with Scot Lane to a point 10 metres west of its junction with Scot Lane.
• Logwood Place, Newtown (both sides) from its junction with Scot Lane to a point 10 metres east of its junction with Scot Lane.

Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Wigan Lane, Wigan (Bus Lane Only)) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 13th July 2026.

Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Kintbury Street, Bamfurlong) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
