(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Mill Lane, Appley Bridge from its junction with Herons Wharf for a distance of 80 metres in an easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from the following dates: a. 2200 hours on Wednesday 27th June until 0600 hours on Thursday 28th June 2026 b. 2200 hours on Wednesday 1st July until 0600 hours on Saturday 4th July 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- Mill Lane, Appley Lane North, B5375 Skull House Lane, B5375 Miles Lane The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow de vegetation works to be carried out to enable an examination of the railway bridge.
