Yarm Lane - Temporary Byway Closure for Repair Works
What is happening?
The County Council Of Durham (Public Right of Way Byway Number 12, Yarm Lane, Sedgefield) (Temporary Byway Closure) Order 2025
The above-named Order made by the Council on 5/12/2025, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 14/12/2025 has been continued in force from 14/6/2026, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 14/6/2027 or until byway is safe to re-open to all traffic, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all motor vehicular and horse drawn traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of byway. A 3.3 kilometre length of Byway Number 12, also known as Yarm Lane, that extends southwards from Neasless Farm, Sedgefield, to enable re-settlement to occur, following recent repair works. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic and horse drawn vehicles from the northern side of the closure, from the A177 south westwards on Stockton Road then westerly toward Thorpe Leazes and Whitton, to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa.
