What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND UNION AREA)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.11) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 373 3736 or via the Cumberland Council website will be referred to quote area detailed in the schedule.

The Order will come into operation on 6 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. U165 Strips, near Cumwhinton – From 6 July 2026 for approx. 3 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8490)

From its junction with the U1527, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 220m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U1165, B6263, Peter Gate, and U1527.

2. C1039 AND C1024 near Castle Carrock – From 7 July 2026 for approx. 5 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8367)

(i) C1039 from its junction with the C1034 to its junction with the C1024; and

(ii) C1024 from its junction with the C1039, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 60m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1024 and C1039, C1031, How Street, B6413, Meadow View, Rectory Road, B6413 and C1027.

3. U2027 Seaville, near Silloth – From 9 July 2026 for approx. 1 week

(Ref: TTROC/I8415)

From its junction with the B5302, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2027, U2026, and B5302.

4. U1025 Sleetbeck – From 13 July 2026 for approx. 3 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8686)

From its junction with the B6318, to its junction with the C1004.

Alternative Route: via the C1004 Sleetbeck Road and B6318.

5. Prior Rig Lane, Carlisle – From 13 July 2026 for approx. 3 days

From its junction with the U1297, Sandsfield Lane, extending in an overall westerly direction for approx. 1.1km.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

6. B5299 and U2136 near Caldbeck – From 13 July 2026 for approx. 4 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8761)

(i) B5299, from its junction with the U2150, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 570m; and

(ii) U2136 from its junction with the B5299, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 270m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5299, A595, Bolton Low Houses and B5305.

7. U1159 Wreay – From 15 July 2026 for approx. 3 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8832)

From its junction with the C1037, extending in a northeasterly direction for approx. 480m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U1159, C1041, C1017, and C1037.

8. U2103 Irby – From 20 July 2026 for approx. 3 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8815)

From its junction with the C2011, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 80m.

Alternative Route: via the C2011, B5299, A595, U2105 and the unrestricted section of the U2103.

9. U2027, U2026, and U2025, near Abbeytown – From 20 July 2026 for approx. 4 days

(Ref: TTROC/I8887)

(i) U2027 from its junction with the U2026, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 1.7km; and

(ii) U2026 from its junction with the U2027 to its junction with the U2025; and

(iii) U2025 from its junction with the U2026, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.4km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2026, U2025, and B5302.

10. U3049 near Ainstable – From 22 July 2026 for approx. 3 days

From a point approx. 370m east of its junction with the C1039, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 510m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U3049, C1042, and C1039.
