What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (LANGAR FOOTPATH NO.8)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of The Nottinghamshire County Council (Langar Footpath No.8) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2025 (which came into force on 18th December 2025 and was continued in force by a Continuation Order until 17th June 2026 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 17th June 2027 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.

The Order has the following effect:-
No person shall: -
(a) proceed on foot, in the following length of Footpath at Langar cum
Barnstone in the Borough of Rushcliffe :-
Langar Footpath No.8, from its start point off Cropwell Road, Langar, to where the path becomes Colston Bassett Footpath No.13 at the parish boundary.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is no direct alternative route available for pedestrians.

If the works are not completed within the above period the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.

The prohibition is required to protect public safety until essential repairs can be completed to a number of timber footbridges along the route.
