What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

Anvil Green Road, Waltham.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Anvil Green Road, Waltham from 9th July 2026 with estimated completion by 10th July 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Temple Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Anvil Green Road, Kake Street, Richdore Road, Anvil Green Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne, CT3 1ST (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne from 9th July 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A257 High Street heading southwards for approximately 900m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Lane, School Lane, Chalkpit Hill, Adisham Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, Station Road, B2046 Adisham Road, High Street, A257 Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Boyden Gate Hill, Chislet, CT3 4EB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Boyden Gate Hill, Chislet from 26th June 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Church Lane/ North Stream heading north for approximately 245m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Boyden Gate Hill, Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Church Lane, Barham, CT4 6PB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow water mains connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Barham from 22nd June 2026, with estimated completion by 24th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed after the access point to Simpsons Wine Estate, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any southeast bound through traffic is via Church Lane, The Street, Valley Road, Derringstone Hill, Mill Lane and Rabbit Hole.

The alternative route for any westbound through traffic is via Church Lane, Gravel Castle Road, Brickfield Road, Valley Road and The Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Church Lane, Chislet, CT3 4EB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Chislet from 22nd June 2026, with estimated completion by 24th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed south of Old Tree Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Cockering Road & Milton Manor Road, Thanington Without.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION & TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF NO LEFT TURN)​TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow water mains connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cockering Road & Milton Manor Road, Thanington Without from 24th June 2026, with estimated completion by 24th July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

Cockering Road will be closed between the junction with Manor Close and Lark View Nursing Home, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cockering Road, Strangers Lane, A28 Ashford Road, Milton Manor Road, Cockering Road and vice versa.

The One-Way Order on Cockering Road will be suspended between the junction with Milton Manor Road and the car park.

The No Left Turn from Milton Manor Road onto Cockering Road will be suspended.



Hoath Road, Hoath, CT2 0ES (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hoath Road, Hoath from 23rd June 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Hawe Lane, heading north for approximately 1100m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill, Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Hoath Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Kingsdown Park, Whitstable, CT5 2AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow investigation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsdown Park, Whitstable from 22nd June 2026 with estimated completion by 23rd June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with B2205 Tankerton Circus, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Kingsdown Park, Northwood Road, St Annes Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Mayton Lane, Broad Oak.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mayton Lane, Broad Oak from 6th July 2026 with estimated completion by 7th July 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 350m north of Brookside property, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Mystole Lane, Mystole, CT4 7BX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow cover and frame works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mystole Lane, Mystole from 6th July 2026, with estimated completion by 10th July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Underdown Nurseries, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative routes for any through traffic are as follows:

Diversion A - Mystole Lane, Chartham Downs Road, Shalmsford Street, A28 Canterbury Road, Mystole Lane, Pickleden Lane, Mystole Lane and vice versa.

Diversion B - Thruxted Lane, Bobbin Lodge Hill and then follow diversion A.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



The Street, Adisham, CT3 3NH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on The Street, Adisham from 22nd June 2026, with estimated completion by 24th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Woodlands Road, Woodlands Lane, Poor Start Lane, Bramling Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



White Horse Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2JH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on White Horse Lane, Canterbury from 6th July 2026 with estimated completion by 11th July 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
