What is happening?
TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
The Secretary of State gives notice of an Order made under Section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping up of Highways (South West) (No.
12) Order 2026” authorising the stopping up of a southern part width, two northern part widths and three lengths and part widths of Howton Lane
at Newton Abbot, in the District of Teignbridge.
This is to enable development as permitted by Teignbridge District Council under reference 20/00585/MAJ.
Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon
Tyne, NE99 5FQ or nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk (quoting NATTRAN/SW/S247/6204).
They may also be inspected during normal opening hours at Newton Abbot Town Council, Newton’s Place, Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot, Devon,
TQ12 1JQ.
Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the Order may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from 19 June 2026.
