What is happening?

BRIGHTON & HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council (“the Council”) has on 10 June 2026 made the Orders named below under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when they come into operation on 15 June 2026 will make permanent the following:

BRIGHTON & HOVE (BUS LANES) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2018 AMENDMENT ORDER NO.3 2026

Bus lane on Marine Parade – between Rock Place and Broad Street

BRIGHTON & HOVE SEAFRONT (VARIOUS RESTRICTIONS) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2024 AMENDMENT ORDER NO.3 2026

(TRO-01C-2025)

Removed existing parking and loading restrictions on the south side of Marine Parade between Lower Rock Gardens and Charles Street and replaced with no waiting and no loading at any time, a new loading only bay between 6am and 6pm and no waiting 6pm to 6am except taxis and a taxis only at any time restriction.

The changes described for above were originally the subject of an experimental Traffic Order that was advertised on 11 April 2025; Brighton & Hove (Marine Parade) (Various Restrictions) Experimental Order 2025 (ref: TRO-1-2025) and its subsequent amendment; Brighton & Hove (Marine Parade) (Various Restrictions) Experimental Order 2025 Amendment No.1 2025 (TRO-1a-2024) advertised on 20 June 2025.

A copy of this Notice, the Orders as made and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Orders may be seen online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/current-tros

Any person who wishes to question the validity of these Orders or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirements of the Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which these Orders were made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
