What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (C5020, SKELWITH BRIDGE, U5385 AND GOODMICKLE LANE, OLD TOWN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the following sections of road:-

C5020, Skelwith Bridge, from its junction with the C5019, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.4 kilometres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5020, A593 and the B5286.

Duration: From 2nd July 2026 for approx. 10 weeks and 4 days (Ref: TTROV/18894)

U5385, Old Town, from its junction with the B6254, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 175 metres.

Alternative Route: via Old Scotch Road and the B6254.

Duration: From 13th July 2026 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROV/118698)

Goodmickle Lane, Old Town, from its junction with the B6254, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 800 metres.

Alternative Route: the unrestricted section of the Goodmickle Lane, U5374, Hophouse Lane, and the B6254.

Duration: From 23rd August 2026 for approx. 7 weeks (Ref: TTROV/18716)

The Order will come into operation on 2nd July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months however, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
