What is happening?

CHAPEL STILE, GRASMERE)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

(i) Mill Brow, Kirkby Lonsdale, from a point adjacent to a property known as River House, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 35m.

There is no suitable diversion route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 29th June 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/18983)

(ii) Vicarage Close, Grange over Sands, from a point adjacent to a property known as number 6 Vicarage Close, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 20m.

There is no suitable diversion route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 13th July 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/19224)

(iii) B5287 Chapel Stile, Grasmere, from its junction with College Street, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 45m.

Alternative Route: via the B5287 Broadgate, Swan Lane, A591, Stock Lane and unrestricted section of the B5287.

Duration: From 16th July 2026 for approx. 1 night during the hours of 1900 and 2300. (Ref: TTROW/19124)

The Order will come into operation on 29th June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
