Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 23 - The Barnet (Free Parking Places, Loading Places, Waiting, Loading And Stopping Restrictions) (Amendment No. 301) (Experimental) Order 2026 - The Barnet (Charged-For Parking Places) (Amendment No.203) (Experimental) Order 2026 - The Barnet (Prescribed Route) (No. 3) Experimental Traffic Order 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of The London Borough of Barnet have made on 11th June 2026 the above-mentioned Order under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
1. As part of a section 278 highway development agreement in the West Hendon Broadway NW9 area, the general effect of the Free and Charged-for Orders will be to on an experimental basis:
(a) upgrade an existing length of 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday waiting restrictions to operate "At any time" between Nos. 270 and 300 West Hendon Broadway NW9 and outside No.266 West Hendon Broadway NW9.
(b) Introduce lengths of waiting restrictions operating between the hours of 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday between Nos.254 and 264/ 266 West Hendon Broadway. As a result of this restriction being introduced lengths of no waiting "At Any time" restrictions will be revoked.
(c) relocate the existing bus stop clearway outside Nos.184 to 194 West Hendon Broadway NW9 to a new position outside Nos.194 to 202 West Hendon Broadway. As a result of the bus stop clearway being relocated, lengths of existing No waiting and no loading restrictions operating 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday will be revoked.
(d) upgrade an existing length of waiting restrictions operating 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday outside Nos.202 to 204 West Hendon Broadway to operate "At any time".
(e) Relocate the existing payment parking situated outside Nos.194 to 210 West Hendon Broadway NW9 that operates between the hours of 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Saturday, to a new position outside Nos.204 to 214 West Hendon Broadway.
(f) Introduce lengths of No waiting "At any time" restrictions on both sides of Milton Road NW9. As a result of this measure being introduced, lengths of existing short stay Pay-by-phone payment parking bays operating 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday will be revoked.
(g) upgrade the existing length of no loading restrictions situated between Nos.129 and 151 West Hendon Broadway NW9 operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday to operate "At Any time".
(h) upgrade the existing length of no loading restrictions situated between Nos.270 and.302 West Hendon Broadway NW9, operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday to operate "At Any time".
(i) upgrade the existing length of no waiting restrictions operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday between the common boundary of Nos.154 and 156 and the common boundary of No.158 and No.160 West Hendon Broadway NW9, to operate "At any time".
(j) upgrade the existing length of no loading restrictions operating 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday between the common boundary of Nos.154 and 156 and the common boundary of Nos.158 and 160 West Hendon Broadway NW9 to operate "At any time".
(k) Upgrade the existing length of No loading restrictions operating 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday between the common boundary of Nos.154 and 156 and the common boundary of No.158 and No.160 West Hendon Broadway NW9 to operate "At any time".
(l) Remove the length of existing no loading restrictions operating from 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday outside Nos.82 to 184 West Hendon Broadway NW9.
(m) Upgrade the existing length of no loading restrictions operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday outside Nos.160 to 180 West Hendon Broadway NW9, to operate "At any time".
(n) Upgrade the existing length of no loading restrictions operating 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday opposite No.270 West Hendon Broadway NW9, to operate 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday.
(o) Upgrade the existing length of no loading restrictions operating 7:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday opposite Nos.270 to 282 West Hendon Broadway NW9, to operate "At Any time".
(p) Introduced lengths of waiting restrictions operating "At any time" on both sides of Ravenstone Road NW9. As a result of these measures being introduced, lengths of waiting restrictions operating 10:00am to 11:00am Monday to Friday, lengths of waiting restrictions operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday and a resident parking bay operating 10:00am to 11:00am Monday to Friday will be revoked.
(q) Upgrade the existing length waiting restrictions operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday on West Hendon Broadway NW9, between the northwestern arm of Perryfield Way and Ravenstone Road to operate "At Any Time".
2. As a result of the Borthwick Road NW9 being permanently stopped up, the general effect of the Free and Charged-for Orders will be to revoke lengths of no waiting restrictions on Borthwick Road operating 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Saturday and to revoke lengths of Paybyphone short stay payment parking bays operating 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday.
3. As a result of the Stanley Road NW9 being permanently stopped up, the general effect of the Free and Charged-for Orders will be to revoke lengths of no waiting restrictions on Borthwick Road operating "At any time" and to revoke lengths of Paybyphone short stay payment parking bays operating 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday.
4. The general effect of the Charged-for Order will be to introduce on an experimental basis a new short stay Pay-by-phone payment parking bay on street outside Nos.254 to 264 West Hendon Broadway NW9, in order to provide a parking facility for motorists wishing to visit local shops and amenities. Due to the type of shops and amenities in the area, it is considered to be beneficial to ensure that the area will remain amenable to visiting motorists and therefore the following charges will apply between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Saturday.

Up to 2 hours £4.40

5. The general effect of the Prescribed route Order will be to on experimental basis ban traffic on Milton Road NW9 from turning right into West Hendon Broadway NW9.
6. The prohibition referred to in paragraph 5 above will not apply in relation to anything done:
(a) with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform;
(b) in accordance with traffic signs placed pursuant to Section 66 or Section 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984;
(c) by any vehicle being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that The London Borough of Barnet in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intends to introduce a Pedestrian Crossing provision including its associated zig zag road markings outside and opposite Nos.184 to 192 West Hendon Broadway NW9 and also outside Nos.141 to 145 West Hendon Broadway.
The Orders provide that, in pursuance of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Chief Executive of the Council or some person authorised in that behalf by him, may, if it appears to him essential in the interests of expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Orders run, modify or suspend the operation of the Orders or any provision thereof.
Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on Friday 19th June 2026, a plan of the relevant areas and the Council’s Statements of Reasons for making the Orders can be obtained for a period of 6 months from the date on which this notice is published by emailing: highwayscorrespondence@barnet.gov.uk, or by writing to: The Design Team, Highways Section, 3rd Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW, quoting reference: -
TMO 2026_28, 2026_29 and 2026_30 West Hendon Broadway.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any regulation made there-under have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
If the provisions of the Orders continue in operation for a period of not less than six months, the Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Orders should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely.
Anyone who wishes to object to the making of such Orders for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, within the period of six months from the date on which the Orders came into operation, send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to: Design Team, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW, or via: highwayscorrespondence@barnet.gov.uk.
