What is happening?
READING BOROUGH COUNCIL
(MINTON CLOSE FOOTPATH READING) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026
READING BOROUGH COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The effect of the Order is to close the footpath at the rear of 15 and 16 Minton Close, Reading. The purpose of the closure is to allow works to replace a boundary box set within the footpath. The Order will come into operation from 23-25 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will continue in force until the works are completed with a maximum duration of up to 6 months unless a direction is given under Section 15(5) of the 1984 Act. The proposed diversion route is from the side of 18 Wealden Way to the side of 16 Minton Close.
(FRANCIS ST) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:
• Suspend the double yellow line restriction from the boundary of Elgar Rd to 1 Francis St;
• Suspend the parking bays outside 1 and 3 Francis St; and
• Impose a no stopping or waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction from 1 and 3 Francis St except by Thames Water, or their contractors.
The Order will come into force from 24-26 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate repairs within the carriageway.
(CAMBRIDGE ST) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:
• Suspend the parking bays outside 27-33 Cambridge St; and
• Impose a no stopping or waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction from 27-33 Cambridge Street except by Thames Water, or their contractors.
The Order will come into force from 24-26 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate repairs within the carriageway.
(CAVERSHAM ROAD AND BRIDGE STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council has made an Order under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close Caversham Road & Bridge Street, from Richfield Road roundabout to Church Street. During the operation of this closure, all existing parking restrictions will be suspended and a temporary “No waiting at any time” restriction will be in place. The Order will take effect on 12 June 2026 for one day. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by on-site traffic signs. Should the works extend beyond the anticipated duration, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner. The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety to facilitate essential repair works. A signed diversion route will be in place.
(ST JOHN’S HILL) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays outside numbers 12-16 St John’s Hill and impose a no stopping, waiting, loading or unloading at any time restriction within those bays. If made, the Order will come into force from 23-25 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate repairs to water infrastructure.
(WESTFIELD ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays on Westfield Road outside numbers 86-96 for approx. 24m and impose a no stopping, waiting, loading/unloading at any time restriction within those bays. If made, the Order will come into force from 23-25 June 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate repairs to water infrastructure.
(FOOTPATH 1 (PART)) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER#2 2026
Reading Borough Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The effect of the Order is to close Footpath 1, Thames Path between Lynmouth Road and Christchurch Bridge for a distance of approximately 90m. The purpose of the closure is to enable construction of a storm water outlet from the proposed development. If made, the Order will come into operation from 6-10 July 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will continue in force until the works are completed with a maximum duration of up to 6 months unless a direction is given under Section 15(5) of the 1984 Act. The proposed diversion route is via Lynmouth Road to Vastern Road (approx. 160m), continuing along Vastern Road in a easterly direction (approx. 175m) to Norman Place then following the diversion signs along Norman Place in a northerly direction (approx. 110m) to rejoin the Thames Path. Access to Christchurch Bridge will be retained from the eastside of the bridge only.
(STATION ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the loading bay outside 29 Station Road and introduce a no stopping, waiting, loading or unloading at any time restriction within the length of Station Road from Garrard Street to outside and opposite Station Road. If made, the Order will come into force from 19:00hrs to 23:00hrs on 22 June 2026. The provisions of the Order shall only apply on the above date when indicated on site by the presence of appropriate traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for crane works at 18-20 Station Road.
