Epsom - Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

What is happening?

SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

D2078 Christ Church Mount and D2267 Long Grove, Epsom - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 10 June 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of:-
a) D2078 Christ Church Mount, Epsom that extends from its northern junction with D2280 Manor Green Road, to its northern junction with D2269 Lower Hill Road.
Alternative route:- Manor Green Road, Christ Church Mount and Lower Hill Road.

b) D2267 Long Grove, Epsom that extends from its junction with B284 Hook Road, to the south-eastern property boundary of junction with "No.2 Long Grove".
Alternative route:- Long Grove Road, Brettgrave and Hook Road.

This Traffic Order is required to enable Southern Gas Networks to carry out gas mains replacement and/or connections and/or maintenance works.

These works are anticipated to be carried out within 1 month of the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 15 June 2026.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures which are anticipated to be required for 24 hours each, day will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times via the alternative routes described above.

Beech Way (D2032) Epsom - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 05 June 2026, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Beech Way (D2032) Epsom as extends from the common boundary between 9 and 10 Beech Way to the end of Beech Way.
There is no alternative route for this closure.

This Order is required to enable UKPN to facilitate a new service connection and associated works.

These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 22 June 2026 for 1 week between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Hook Road (B284) Epsom - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Hook Road (B284) Epsom as extends from its junction with East Street (A24) Epsom to its junction with Chase Road (C195).
Alternative route – A24 (East Street, Epsom Road and Ewell By-Pass) and B2200 (London Road, High Street (clockwise only), Spring Street (clockwise only), Kingston Road (anti-clockwise only) and Chessington Road), or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to enable SGN to facilitate the decommissioning of Epsom gas holder station and associated works.

These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences 29 June 2026. Works are anticipated to be conducted in multiple phases over 9 months between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Various Roads in Epsom - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:-
1. prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice and;

2. suspend "The Borough of Epsom and Ewell (Various Roads) (One-Way Traffic) (Amendment) (No.3) Order 1974" insofar as it affects Mill Road (C197) Epsom to allow it to be used in both directions during the works.

NB. The footway on the southern side of Alexandra Road (A2022) between Church Road and the first crossing point to the east will be closed. Pedestrians affected by this will be diverted using the footway on the northern side of the of Alexandra Road.

This Order is required to enable Edburton Contractors Ltd to facilitate the construction of an entrance for the new Aldi including highways improvement and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences 6 July 2026 for 2 months between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

SCHEDULE

(a) that length of Church Road (C197) Epsom as extends from its junction with Upper High Street (A2022) to its junction with Pikes Hill (D2335).

Alternative route
i. A2022 (Alexandra Road), College Road and Albert Road.
ii. A2022 (Upper High Street), B284 (Church Street) and Grove Road.

(b) that length Upper High Street (A2022) and Alexandra Road (A2022) Epsom as extends from its junction with Pikes Hill (D2335) to its junction with Bridge Road (B288).

Alternative route – A2022 (Alexandra Road and College Road), A240 (Reigate Road), A24 (Ewell By-Pass, Epsom Road, East Street and High Street) and A2022 (Upper High Street), or this route in reverse. Traffic wishing to access Church Road during the closure to follow (a) ii. above.

(c) that length of Church Road (C197) Epsom as extends from its junction with Upper High Street (A2022) to its junction with Hawthorne Place (D2226).

Alternative route – A25 (East Street and High Street) and A2022 (Upper High Street), or this route in reverse.

(d) that length of Mill Road (C197) Epsom as extends from its junction with Upper High Street (A2022) to the access for the garages behind 1 Alexandra Road.

Alternative route – A2022 (Alexandra Road), B288 (Bridge Road, Mill Road, Windmill Lane), A25 (East Street and High Street) and A2022 (Upper High Street), or this route in reverse.

Manor Green Road (D2280) Epsom - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
On 10 June 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Manor Green Road (D2280) Epsom as extends from its junction with (D2418) Upper Court Road to its junction with (D2237) Kendor Avenue.
Alternative Route: Kendor Avenue and Upper Court Road, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate gas mains replacement works for, or on behalf of SGN.

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 18 days, between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 26 June 2026.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
